Greetings from Wuppertal, Germany! More than a moment in time... Today is a state of mind! You will create a box with objects from the city. Events in flux to select and fix in time. Read more in the letter...
Question of the day: To think outside the box?
Fluxus: Flow, flux, flowing, fluids…
Homework no. 52: You will create a box with objects taken from the city.
I love jewelry and always buy different items to satiate my desire. Today I bought four different items which represent me, my city, my culture and my country to fill my jewelry basket which is in "flux" always.
I thought "outside the box" and made this "flux basket".
I thought "outside the box" and made this "flux basket".
What will I learn today? To stretch up the tension.
How to describe a city (or a portion of it) using little objects? Zoom in and zoom out. Back and forth. Do it once, and then again. A third time. Set up series, connections, make us think. Make us dream, make us fall in love with you.
Easy as a kiss.
Why do we do this? Because once again we are back to design as a language. Today we want to make you thinking to the so-called “figure of speech”.
FLUX BASKET
I carefully select these items trying to represent "flux" in design. A white chiffon banarsi scarf; the design of these "kundan earrings" is in "flux" from the centuries and represents the culture of subcontinent; a ring and bangles of vibrant colors.
Something to remember: Design isn't just a language (but it has its own grammar, rules, schemes, tropes...)
P.S.
This assignment has been done for the +iversity course +Design 101 which is instructed by +Stefano Mirti, +Anne-Sophie Gauvin, Prof. Giovanni Pasca Raymondi, and Dott. Lucia Giuliano.
