Voyage of Exploration: Day 9

One important thing which I understand is that I am not only exploring the world but simultaneously I am exploring my "self." Design 1o1 Flotilla brings us to those places and introduces with new people so that we can understand our strength and weaknesses, it is the time of self-evaluation.
"Hello dear! Why are you standing here, get along, hurry up. Captain Stefano Mirti and his crew are waiting for us. Do you forget we have a breakfast-party on Design 1o1 Flotilla for the new comers." He beams.
An elderly Professor aroused me because I was standing in between the street and floating in my thoughts. "Thank you Professor." I just replied.
Actually, I am thinking about today's email, letter, and video postcard. By the way I forget to tell you that yesterday's letter informed me that my class mates are crossed the line of twenty seven thousand and now we are twenty thousand plus students at  Design 1o1 Flotilla. All of us are from seven different continents, cultures, languages, ages, backgrounds, jobs, ... (list could be very long) and this is the real beauty of it. Design 1o1 Flotilla is harboured at Berlin's Westhafen and today we are having a party on-board, that is why I am striding now to reach as soon as possible.
Design 1o1 Flotilla is right here and being decorated beautifully with buntings, ribbons, flowers, paintings, drawings, masks and what not. You already know that there are brilliant artists who are aboard with us. Ah! Oh! I am going up into the ship.
Its partly cloudy and cold in Berlin as the temperature is 11 degree Celsius, the Sun is peeping from time to time and looks happy while fragrance of flowers makes the atmosphere alluring. Everyone is delighted around, they are busy in arrangements for today's party. Our new class mates are visiting the museum; yes Design 1o1 Flotilla has a museum too and the galleries are arranged day by day accordingly. As usual hot discussions and debates are going on, they are discussing about the result of week one quiz. By the way I secured 04 out of 12 : ) no problem, I am happy with it because its exploring with fun and most important I was able to catch Sid Vicious here.

Today's letter asks me if it is better (and more fun) to spend time with people who are different from us. I think yes because in this way new ideas can be developed, shared and we can learn more. Still some of the students are standing at the dockyard as they are waiting for their "new" friends. Captain Stefano says, “social skills are more relevant to us because they are invisible.” Positively but I am not good in invisible skills that is why I am still alone but I am glad because my class mates are cheerful today. We are gathered at the dock at 6.30 am sharp Captain Stefano appears with his team, and four guests John Donne, Jean Cocteau, Paul Klee and Bruno Munari.
"We are going to "VIe arrondissement de Paris", where all of you will draw sketch of your friend and then a sketch yourself. So find your friend, "design your relational network", as you know there are twenty seven thousand plus students so its easy for you to "design an address book!" Those of you who do not know how to make a sketch can now learn it today. I know all of you are curious about our four guests, so please give a warm welcome to John Donne, you already know him very well, sixteenth century poet; Jean Cocteau, he is a French poet, artist, designer, filmmaker, novelist many many more, he will tell you something about sketches. Paul Klee, German-Swiss painter and artist; and here is Italian designer, influential visual artist, inventor and architect Bruno Munari; Captain hands over him the mic. Bruno says,

‘To make things easy is very difficult. To make things

difficult is very easy. (we couldn’t agree more!).’

Hmmm. I remember this, I think, perhaps I don't. Bruno Munari has invited John Donne who is sharing his poem with us. Everyone is so excited to have John Donne among them. Donne starts: “No Man is an Island”

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend’s
Or of thine own were:
Any man’s death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for
whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

No Man is an island. No Man is an island. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. Oh he is right, whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. We are together, we are together...
Applause. Applause.

I wake up from my dream. Design 1o1 Flotilla is sailing with unknown nautical miles speed, Poseidon and Athena are also on board. Captain continues, 'We are having a delightful yet informative conversation today, enjoy and start your breakfast. Your today's Nuggets of Wisdom are right here in front of you and Le Corbusier has designed them.

" I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster, and leaves less room for lies."

I think I will become a little wise after having 101+ Wisdom of Nuggets. Giulia San Gregorio is announcing, "Design 1o1 Flotilla is harboured at Le Havre France, and from here we will go to VIe arrondissement de Paris, so please keep calm, don't panic. Make a line at the dockyard."

As a matter of fact, we all are are so excited and want to reach Paris as early as we could. Here Athena is leading us; we all have closed our eyes and within fraction of a second we are at VIe arrondissement de Paris, our guests are accompanying with us. Captain asks to walk briskly because we have to visit the Musée de la Bible et Terre Sainte, where we will meet with the world's oldest mask; have insightful conversations with Jean Cocteau, Paul Klee and Bruno Munari. By the way Captain Stefano has given us an encyclopedia which gives a small introduction to all the places we visit; people we meet; and things which inspires plus their addresses are also provided so that we can experience the sites and meet with the celebrities in person.

Now Jean Cocteau drawing is giving an interview to the world's oldest mask. So I have to leave and I think its enough for today.

Au revoir.
