Tock. Tock. Tock.
Bonjour!
Athena knocks the door to awaken me. I opened my eyes; a letter, a video post card and an updated mini encyclopedia for the second week is right there on my side table. I am in my cabin of Design 101 Flotilla; the clock strikes at 5.30 am early in the morning. I have just half an hour to get ready and reach the deck and don't have time to check my post right now. My friends from the seven continents are calling "Hurry up!" Meanwhile, I get ready and headed out.
It is drizzling with cool breeze, which gives a warm welcome to all the students who are gathering at the dock. It is quite cold and cloudy today. Dolphins are dancing and our origami birds swimming and flying around the Design 101 Flotilla. Every one is happy, hot and lively discussions about the last weeks journey and experiences make the atmosphere warm and cosy. We have started our Voyage of Discovery form Berlin, than passing through New York City, Hiroshima, Hong Kong where we enjoyed yum yum dim sums, then through Bamako the capital city of Mali, where most of us landed for the first time, from Mali again to New York City's Chinatown and after that we ended our first week's voyage in Bangkok. All of us are in the unknown ocean right now.
It is Monday; at 6.00 am sharp Stefano Mirti appears from the back, he is coming along with his whole team as well as I notice two new faces with him and as always Athena beams right at the front corner. Stefano comes forward to give today's address.
Hallo! Hallo! As all of you know we have successfully finished our first week. Some of you have submitted all your assignments, some half and others none. Be confident don't feel like at a Dead End Street....
It is just a beginning. We are learning together and forming a global community.
For this we must break our boundaries of thoughts, culture, language and every thing which restrains your creativity and thought process to live with each other, to help, to exchange ideas, to appreciate and to succeed. Today we are going to our home Berlin Checkpoint Charlie.
But before leaving how can I forget your treat. Pink Floyd are giving you today's nuggets of wisdom. Enjoy and have fun.
"All in all, it was all
just bricks in the wall.
All in all, we were all
just bricks in the wall."
Applause. Applause. Applause.
Stefano continues and introduces two of his friends Issey Miyake, who is a Japanese fashion designer. Technology is his inspiration and creates technology-driven clothing designs, exhibitions and fragrances. Another one is Isamu Noguchi, who is a Japanese American artist and landscape architect who is inspired by Japanese traditional art. Stefano says, "Design can only start from yourself." El-oh-el-aye Lola la-la-la-la Lola...
Wowowow. Clap. Clap. Clapping...
Instructor is concluding today's address and ask us to finish our today's quiz at home.
I've got life
And I'm gonna keep it
I've got life
And nobody's gonna take it away.
Kudos. Kudos...
Athena asks us to close our eyes and within seconds again with the help of Poseidon, God of the sea, Design 101 Flotilla passes the unknown ocean and we are in Berlin.
I open my letter...
Tres bien. There are lots of places to visit and so many things to discover today. I don't have time now, so we will meet tomorrow at some new destinations.
Au revoir!
